John Davis Obituary

John Randall Davis, Jr. (Jack) died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on March 21, 2024.

Jack was born on April 8, 1934 in Richmond, Virginia to John Randall Davis and Catherine Anderson Davis. He attended Charles L. Coon High School in Wilson, N.C. and graduated from Oak Ridge Military Academy in Oak Ridge, N.C. in 1952. He attended N.C. State University from 1952 to 1954, served in the U.S Air Force from 1955 to 1957, attended Atlantic Christian College and graduated from there in 1959. He received a Master's Degree from East Carolina University in 1961.

Jack worked as an Industrial Engineer for Burlington Industries at various locations in Virginia and North Carolina from 1961 until his retirement in 1986. He worked as an independent engineering consultant for several years following his retirement from Burlington.

Jack was married to Patricia Ann Lewis (Pat) on November 26, 1959. They had one daughter, Nan. Their family was small but their love was large! Jack was blessed with two grandsons, Zack and Davis.

Jack is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Pat; their daughter, Nan Davis Fleming (Hunter) of Wilson, N.C.; grandson, Dr. Zachary Lee Fleming (McKenzie); grandson, John Davis Fleming (Catherine).

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 11 AM at Jamestown United Methodist Church, 403 East Main Street, Jamestown, N.C 27282 with Dr. David Greene officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service in the narthex. A private entombment at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro, N.C. will follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hamil Kerr Challenge Foundation for Parkinson's, P.O. Box 1963, Jamestown, N.C. 27282 or Jamestown United Methodist Church, 403 East Main Street, Jamestown, N.C. 27282.
